01.05.2023 RAEX publishes the May update of the RAEX ESG-composite ranking list of Russian companies.
In this update of the ESG ranking, RAEX-Europe updated the assessment of 12 Russian companies from the medium rating range. The changes did not affect group "A", which still has 15 participants.
Starting from April, the agency publishes not only the comprehensive ESG rating, but also the ratings of its components E, S and G, assigned by the agency based on assessments of corporate practices in the areas of "Environment", "Social Relations" and "Corporate Governance", respectively. It is noteworthy that all four rankings - complex ESG and components E, S and G - have different leaders. If NLMK, which has the most balanced set of ratings, is at the top of the main list, then Polyus has the highest rating for environmental practices, Uralkali has the highest rating for social issues, and Sistema has the highest rating for management practices. In our opinion, this is a good guideline for finding benchmarks and directions for further development of ESG practices.
The Michelin company transferred to the M group in March was excluded from the published list, instead of which the Sinara group was included in it.
RAEX continues to update the ESG ratings of mid- and lower-range companies. In this case, as always, any information available to the agency at the time of the assessment will be used, including (but not limited to) non-financial reporting. We expect estimates based on 2022 annual reports in June.
The publication of the next update is scheduled for June 1, 2023.
